Team & workspaces
ShopMCP is organised around workspaces. A workspace owns its integrations, API keys, playbooks, billing context, and teammate access.
When to use one workspace
Use one workspace when one brand, store group, or internal team should share the same connected accounts and AI client keys. This is the normal setup for a single merchant with Shopify, GA4, Search Console, ads, email, finance, and inventory systems under one operating view.
Primary connections keep prompts simple
Primary. The assistant uses the primary connection when a prompt does not name a store, property, account, or organisation explicitly. When to split workspaces
Split workspaces when credentials, billing, audit trails, or client data should not mix. Agencies should normally use one workspace per merchant or client, then invite their team into the workspaces they operate.
- Use separate workspaces for separate legal entities or clients.
- Use separate workspaces when each store needs its own API keys.
- Use separate workspaces when teammates should only see certain clients.
Roles
Workspace owners have full control. Admins can manage day-to-day setup. Members can use the workspace without owning billing or root access.
- Owner — full workspace control, billing, team management, integrations, API keys, and destructive account decisions.
- Admin — manage integrations, connections, playbooks, and operational settings for the workspace.
- Member — use the connected workspace and AI workflows without controlling billing or ownership-sensitive settings.
Invite teammates
Open Settings → Team from the app, invite the teammate by email, and choose the right role before sending. Invites are workspace-specific, so repeat the invite in each workspace where that person needs access.
API keys and team access
API keys belong to the workspace, not to a personal browser session. Name each key after the client or machine that uses it, and prefer scoped keys when a teammate or AI client only needs a subset of integrations.
See API keys for the full key-creation and access-scope flow.
